About This Blog

This is a blog about life --- life events, life changes, relationships, work, funny happenings, travels, poetry and other interesting things I may stumble upon in this world and feel like writing about.

The blog started with the premise that life is change, and we will only be happy when we accept change and face our difficulties with optimism and hope.

Defying Mara is the path I took after a wild card that was brought into my life almost two years ago. "Mara" is a Buddhist term; a metaphor for the devils in our lives that are obstacles to success; those negative doubts that keep us from following our purpose to the best of our ability. Ever since overcoming my wild card, I've become a happier, thankful, more optimistic person. Mara tends to come to life stronger when we face unexpected change. I once heard a Buddhist talk that said we must accept Mara...in fact, "invite Mara to tea," in order to be able to defy it. Ignoring it and hoping it will go away will not lead you on the path to success.

I've defied Mara, and that is the root of my optimism. Throughout the past two years, the focus of the blog has changed, to more lighter, everyday topics.

I hope you enjoy reading, and come back often. Peace.

"I choose joy. I will invite my God to be the God of circumstance. I will refuse the temptation to be cynical...the tool of the lazy thinker. I will refuse to see people as anything less than human beings, created by God. I will refuse to see any problem as anything less than an opportunity to see God. I choose peace...I will live forgiven. I will forgive so that I may live."
